Yahoo unveiled their new logo today. After a month long rotation of different logos, Yahoo revealed the one they are sticking with. The logo went through an amount of, what seemed like, different typeface changes throughout the 30 days. The new logo is a simplified sans serif type, a change from their old wackier, out of line, ascending serif typed logo. The simplified, minimal approach is a move that is a continuing trend in a recent slew of updated logos that has seen updated, simplified logos from the likes of eBay and Microsoft.

Yahoo's logo page stated, "We're excited to share the new Yahoo logo with you. We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products." See the results for yourself below.

Yahoo New Logo

Yahoo's, Marissa Mayer continues to make changes at Yahoo. Acquisitions  (Tumblr, Rocketmelt), shut-downs (Alta Vista), business practices (banning working from home), and now a new logo. Seems to me she is taking Yahoo in the right direction.
